Gardening Club is a volunteer program for 6th through 8th graders at the Y. Students spend the fall working across three growing spaces: a rooftop vegetable garden, a pollinator garden, and an indoor hydroponics system.They plant fall crops, harvest what is ready, save seeds for spring, and learn how a growing season fits together from seed to harvest to compost and back to soil. In December they turn what they grew into pickles, herb salts and jam to take home. Students volunteer alongside each other twice a week, and the work is real. The garden depends on them showing up.
