Laura has been the Assistant Director of the Early Childhood department for a total of four years. Her educational background includes a master’s degree in Early Childhood General Education from Bank Street College and a second MS in Early Childhood Special Education from Hunter College. Prior to working at the Y, Laura worked as a lead teacher in a variety of settings including a bilingual Head Start program on the Lower East Side; a special education early intervention center; and an integrated preschool program in Chelsea. Laura has had extensive administrative experience including positions as Director of the Early Intervention Program at the Jewish Guild for the Blind; Program Coordinator at Cooke Center West Harlem, an integrated preschool setting; and Assistant Director at ABC Cassidy’s Place, an integrated Head Start Center.

Laura is a proud resident of the Washington Heights/Inwood area and an even prouder mother of a 21-year old daughter, who graduated from the University of Southern California, having studied Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.
