Y Chief Operating Officer Michael Fermaglich has been an executive staff member of the Y since 2001. In his current position, Michael oversees operations, including capital renovations and building upgrades, and information technology systems and housing management, along with programmatic strategic planning and financial management.
In 2004, Michael administered the refinancing of the Wien House, the 14-story, 100-unit facility for low-income seniors and physically disabled adults that the Y manages. This refinancing was the first in the country through a tax-exempt bond issuance coupled with low-income housing credits. Under Michael’s leadership, the Wien House also became the first Housing and Urban Development (HUD) building to become smoke free.
This year, the Y is completing a $2 MM capital renovation project for a new structural roof system with a state of the art playground, sprinkler system, play surfacing, and environmental education area. Michael oversees the scope development, budget, physical coordination, and reporting related to these renovations.
Michael has an MSW from Yeshiva University and a BS in Accounting from Babson College.
