Workforce Development Center - Adults

Thank you for your interest in The YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood Workforce Development Center!​

The Y was established in 1917 and has been a pillar of the Washington Heights and Inwood communities ever since. It offers multi-generational support, including nursery school, after-school programming, and senior services. The Workforce Development Center, launched in September 2024, serves individuals ages 18 and older, providing free certificate training, career readiness programs, and employment referrals for community members.


The YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood, along with partner Lehman College, is offering free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training beginning Fall 2025.

 – CNA classes are scheduled to begin in September 2025
 – The CNA course is regular and will not provide ESOL English language supports
 – Those eligible are 18 + years old with a high school diploma/GED
 – Interested in healthcare/Committed to working as a CNA
 – Classes are hybrid, with evening and Saturday schedule 
 – Loaner laptops and MetroCard assistance are available

Priority will be given to those who enroll and complete the free virtual Pre-CNA course with SUNY North Bronx, which will be discussed more during the Virtual Information Session with Workforce Development Center staff.
