YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood

Program Cancellations: COVID-19 Update

Dear Friends,

The YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood (the Y) has been a pillar in our community for more than a century — a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can thrive. We educate the youngest among us, provide meals and companionship for those in their golden years, offer enriching activities for youth and their families, and so much more. We pride ourselves in the top-notch services we provide everyone who walks through our doors or attends any of the myriad of our offsite programs.

We are now facing a pandemic in New York with the new coronavirus (COVID-19). New York City has moved the public school system to remote learning until Monday, April 20, 2020. Students will not report to school buildings for instruction during this time.

All of our programs are now canceled until Monday, April 20, 2020.

Prepared meals will be handed out to seniors at the front entrance through our Center for Adults Living Well. Logistics will be shared with them soon by the CALW staff.

We are exploring offering online programs to provide engaging and fun activities in which you can participate at home. Further details will be available soon.

During this time, we will continue rigorous cleaning and disinfection. We are hopeful that we will be able to return to our regularly scheduled programs in the near future, while providing a safe and healthy environment for all.

Even when we are not physically together — under the Y’s roof — we are one community, and I am inspired by the level of care you have shown one another during this uncertain time.

Please refer to our COVID-19 resources page for information that may be useful at this time. As we receive new information, we will continue to update you.

Thank you all very much for your patience and helping us do our part to flatten the curve to curtail the disease’s spread, especially to vulnerable populations.

Wishing you all good health,

Martin G. Englisher
Chief Executive Officer
