A Community Coming Together for Thanksgiving at YM&OUAIS

Une communauté qui se rassemble pour Thanksgiving

Mardi, novembre 20, le personnel du Centre for Adults Living Well @ the Y était reconnaissant d'avoir eu l'occasion de fournir 150 seniors in our community with a Thanksgiving luncheon. The wonderfully festive day and the take-home meals were made possible through contributions from CALW members, volunteers, Fairway Market, and Temple Emanu-El.

The delicious menu created by CALW’s Chef Julio and his staff included kosher turkey donated through a grant from Fairway Market. The meal had all the trimmings, including homemade apple crumble.

The auditorium was decorated with colorful tablecloths, Thanksgiving decorations, and beautiful origami flowers made by our own Sang Takieddine and members of the CALW origami class. Background music was provided by Claremont Strings and Ensemble. Many participants commented how much they enjoyed the presentation!

CALW is fortunate to receive funds from Temple Emanu-El to provide holiday meals for our seniors. To make up for the missed meal due to Y being closed for the holiday, older adults who are active in CALW as well as those who are homebound and participate in our Safe at Home and Partners in Caring programs received a special Thanksgiving take home meal.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who participated in serving on Tuesday. Without them the staff would have had a difficult time serving this five course meal!
