Helping Our Neighbors at YM&iYAU 15

Helping the Most Vulnerable in Our Community

The Y has been a pillar of strength and hope for Northern Manhattan for more than 100 yabaki, but what makes us one of the most well-respected community centers isn’t only our cutting-edge educational programs, critical socialization activities for seniors, best-in-class inclusion programs, vital workforce development initiatives, or innovative summer programs.

When families are on the brink of disaster, the Y’s emergency cash assistance program is there to help combat homelessness, fend off hunger, and provide basic necessities.

Many of the families we support could never have imagined themselves in need. They’re people who were employed and self-sufficient until faced with unimaginable crises. A single mother who had to stop working when her child’s cancer returned. A Holocaust survivor in desperate need of nourishing meals. An elderly husband who could not afford his wife’s burial when she died from COVID-19. A young adult with developmental disabilities who lost his job during the pandemic. A family who could no longer make ends meet when their son lost his eyesight and was in need of constant care.

Our community is counting on us, but our emergency cash assistance program does not receive government funding. Our neighbors depend on the generosity of supporters like you. Your gift today can help save lives — from the very old to the very young.

Please join us in caring for our neediest neighbors.

Thank you so much for helping our most vulnerable families whose lives were disrupted by cancer and by the pandemic. The Y’s assistance allowed them to breathe again and became the light at the end of their tunnels. Your support was a different kind of medicine — lifesaving in its own way.
