Dear Friend of the Y,
You know the Y – we are northern Manhattan’s premier community center where:
- your children make their first friend at our Nursery School
- your children learn to swim at our day camp in Rockland County
- your children explore gymnastics, music, dance and sports
- your children with special needs participate in our inclusive programs
- your teens feel safe, have fun, and gain pathways to a brighter future
- you meet new friends at our Center for Adults Living Well
- you exercise at our Fitness Center
- you enjoy a concert on a Sunday afternoon
The Y is also the place that makes a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable in our community – we extend a helping hand to people of all ages with free programs and caring services:
- Teaching children how to read in our Family Literacy Program
- Supporting parents of children with special needs
- Guiding teens to academic and career success
- Creating a legacy through the “Sosúa” project on diversity and tolerance, premiering on channels WNET 13 and WLIW 21. Read more about Sosúa here
- Placing more than 300 New York City youth in meaningful summer jobs
- Serving 4,000 monthly hot nutritious meals to seniors six days per week
- Buying clothing and bedding for an orphan child with special needs to attend an overnight summer camp, part of $10,000 distributed in conjunction with “The New York Times Neediest Cases”
- Providing $100,000 in scholarships to families with financial constraints
Please help us continue to transform lives by making a tax-deductible gift to the Y – you can make your check payable to the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood or visit the Donate link on our website. All of us close to the Y are most grateful for your friendship and your support.
With best wishes for a healthy and happy 2014,
Martin G. Englisher Andrew Halpern
