Happy Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and it is an important time to say thank you and to think about what we are all thankful for. I am very grateful to have such a great dedicated team of people working here at the Y. This is also a time people think about how we or our ancestors got to America and how fortunate we all are.The beauty of this Y is reflected in the diversity of culture and religions enjoying every day and learning about each other.

Let us celebrate the unique qualities of this holiday. Being the heaviest travel day of the year is a testament to the commitment we have as a nation to family and togetherness. A togetherness that is unique to this day as all Americans share in its festivities regardless of race, religion or background. We must take a step back from the news and headlines and remember that we are all part of one family, one community, one nation, and one world. Let us be thankful for the opportunity to be able to come together.

We live in a much changed world right now where we have to cherish our freedom and be vigilant about our own and our members’ safety. Yet, we must continue as usual in the pursuit of great things for our Y and all of us.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Stay well and safe.

-Martin Englisher, Executive VP & CEO of the Y
