Mayor de Blasio Proclaims June 8, 2017 is the Y of Washington Heights & Inwood Day

June 7 the Y received a very special proclamation from Mayor Bill de Blasio. In honor of our centennial, June 8, 2017 will be known as “YM&YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood Day” in the City of New York!

The proclamation arrived on the eve of, and June 8 was chosen because of, the Y’s Centennial Gala held at the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park on Thursday, June 8. The proclamation acknowledges the Y’s crucial role in uplifting people of all ages and backgrounds in Upper Manhattan and beyond. Mayor de Blasio, thank you for recognizing a century of commitment to being there for New Yorkers, both in times of hardship and celebration!
