Martin Yafe

Chief Program Officer

Martin (pronounced Marteen) is the Y’s Chief Program Officer, responsible for the vision, implementation, and supervision of our programs. Born in Argentina, Martin comes to the Y with over 15 years of international experience leading programs for Jewish community organizations. In Buenos Aires, Martin served as Director of Youth Education and Camp Director for two organizations (Bet Hilel and Amijai), and spent nine years working in the field of security and emergency management both in a professional as well as a volunteer capacity.

After completing his BA in International Relations, Martin moved to Israel where he completed his MA in Government and Security studies at IDC Herzliya, and lectured on Middle East conflict and security affairs. Martin was later invited to work in Sydney, Australia as Director of Youth Education at a large synagogue (Emanuel Synagogue), teacher at Emanuel School, and educational consultant for the Jewish Board of Deputies. In 2014 Martin moved to New York where he worked as Planning Executive for UJA-Federation New York, and as an educational consultant for the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and the Jewish Education Project. For almost 20 years, Martin has enjoyed leading Jewish High Holiday services as a cantorial soloist, something he continues to do at Midway Jewish Center. As you might have realized, Martin has many passions, but his main one is traveling the world.

Martin strongly encourages you to reach out to him to introduce yourself and to let him know what programs you like, what might be missing, and how you would like to get more involved at the Y.
